What is OnlyPDF?
OnlyPDF is a free online PDF toolkit that runs inside your web browser. Instead of uploading a document to a remote server, it reads and edits the file on your own device, using open-source JavaScript libraries such as pdf-lib and PDF.js. You can merge, split, rotate, rearrange, compress and convert Portable Document Format (PDF) files, turn Word (DOCX) documents and JPG or PNG images into PDFs, and remove watermarks, without installing software.
The plans below differ only in how often you can use the tools and whether you see ads. The tools themselves, and the way your files are handled, are the same on every plan. Paid plans are sold through Gumroad.

Organize and edit PDF pages
Most everyday PDF jobs are about pages: putting several documents into one file, taking a few pages out, or fixing the order. Merge PDF combines several files into one document in the order you choose. Split PDF breaks a file into one PDF per page and delivers them in a ZIP archive. Delete PDF Pages removes the pages you do not need, while Extract PDF Pages does the opposite and builds a new PDF from only the pages you select.
Rearrange PDF Pages lets you drag pages into a new sequence, Insert PDF Pages adds pages from another PDF, images or blank pages after any page number you pick, and Rotate PDF fixes sideways or upside-down pages. Together they cover the common tasks of assembling reports, trimming scanned documents and preparing files for sharing.
Make a PDF smaller
Large PDFs are hard to email or attach to forms that cap file size. Compress PDF reduces file size while keeping the document readable, either automatically or toward a maximum size you set. Scanned documents and image-heavy files usually shrink the most, while text-only PDFs are already compact and may change very little.
Convert between PDF and other formats
PDF to Word extracts selectable text and basic paragraph structure into an editable DOCX file. Complex layouts, forms and scanned pages may need manual cleanup, and OnlyPDF does not perform optical character recognition (OCR). Word to PDF turns a DOCX document into a simple PDF you can share or print.
JPG to PDF and PNG to PDF combine one or more images into a single PDF, which is handy for receipts, ID scans and photo sets. In the other direction, PDF to JPG and PDF to PNG turn PDF pages into images: PNG suits text, line art and screenshots, while JPG suits photographs.
Clean up documents
PDF Watermark Remove scans a PDF for watermark objects such as semi-transparent text, logos and stamps and deletes them, or lets you cover a selected area with a matching colour. Use it only on documents you own or have permission to edit.
How browser-based PDF processing protects your files
Many online PDF services upload your document to a server, process it there and send the result back, which means a copy of your file passes through someone else's infrastructure. OnlyPDF takes the opposite approach: the page loads the tool, your browser does the work, and the file never leaves your device. Contracts, ID scans, invoices and legal or medical paperwork stay with you.
Because the processing happens locally, very large files depend on your device's memory and browser, and a phone or older computer can be slower than a modern desktop. There is no installation and no account needed to try any tool.

How do I merge PDF files without uploading them?
Open Merge PDF, add your files, arrange them in the order you want and download the combined document. Everything happens in your browser, so the files are not sent to a server.
How can I make a PDF small enough to email?
Use Compress PDF to shrink the file automatically or toward a target size. If the file is still too large, Delete PDF Pages or Extract PDF Pages can remove pages you do not need to send.
Can I convert a PDF to Word for free?
Yes, within the free daily allowance. PDF to Word works best on PDFs with selectable text. Scanned pages are images, so they need OCR, which this tool does not do.
How do I turn photos or screenshots into a PDF?
Choose JPG to PDF for photos or PNG to PDF for screenshots and graphics, add one or more images and download a single PDF.
How do I fix pages that are upside down?
Open Rotate PDF, turn the affected pages and save the result. If the order is also wrong, Rearrange PDF Pages lets you drag pages into place.
PDF terms explained
- PDF (Portable Document Format)
- A file format created by Adobe and standardized as ISO 32000, designed so a document looks the same on any device and operating system.
- Client-side processing
- Work done inside your own browser on your own device, rather than on a remote server. It is why files can stay private.
- DOCX
- The Microsoft Word document format, based on Office Open XML, used by Word and many compatible editors.
- Compression
- Reducing a file's size, for example by optimizing images, so it is easier to email or upload.
- Watermark
- Text, a logo or a stamp laid over page content, often semi-transparent, to mark a document as a draft or confidential.
- OCR (optical character recognition)
- Technology that turns images of text, such as scanned pages, into selectable and searchable text. OnlyPDF does not perform OCR.
- ZIP archive
- A single compressed file that bundles several files together, used when Split PDF returns one PDF per page.
- Lifetime plan
- A one-time purchase that gives ongoing access to software with no subscription. For OnlyPDF it lasts for as long as the service is operated.
- Gumroad
- An online platform that handles checkout, payment and receipts for digital products. OnlyPDF uses it to sell the Pro and Lifetime plans.
Pricing questions
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. OnlyPDF's tools process your files in your own browser, so they stay on your device. This is the same on every plan.
What counts as one use?
Each time you start a tool. Free visitors get 3 uses of each tool per day on the same device and network, and the allowance resets daily. Limits are separate for each tool.
Do I need an account to use OnlyPDF?
No. Every tool is free to try without signing up. You only need an account to activate Pro or Lifetime.
What does Pro include?
Unlimited use of every tool and no ads while your membership is active. It is billed monthly or yearly, and you can cancel at any time. Access continues until the end of the period you already paid for.
What does Lifetime include?
Unlimited use of every tool and no ads, for as long as OnlyPDF operates the service. It is a one-time payment with no renewals.
How do I pay?
Checkout is handled by Gumroad, which accepts the payment methods it supports in your country and emails you a receipt. OnlyPDF never sees your card details. Sales tax or VAT may be added at checkout depending on where you live.
How do I activate my plan?
After you buy, Gumroad emails you a license key. Open the Activate page, sign in with your OnlyPDF account, paste the key and press Activate. Log in on each browser or device you use and unlimited access applies while you are signed in.
How do I cancel Pro?
Use the manage-membership link in your Gumroad receipt email to cancel or update your card. Your Pro access stays active until the end of the period you have paid for, then your account returns to the free plan.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are issued through Gumroad under the refund policy shown on the product page and in our Terms. When a purchase is refunded or charged back, the license and the access it unlocked are deactivated.
Is there a file size limit?
Files are processed on your device, so the practical limit depends on your device's memory and browser. Very large PDFs may be slow on phones and older computers.
Does PDF to Word work on scanned documents?
Not reliably. Scanned pages are images rather than text, so they need OCR, and OnlyPDF does not perform OCR. PDFs with selectable text convert best.
Is it legal to remove a watermark?
Only use the watermark tool on documents you own or have permission to edit. Removing a watermark from someone else's protected work may break their rights or terms.
